The AMD Radeon RX 6600 achieves a similar result to the NVIDIA RTX 3060 at 1080p resolutions

AMD has recently launched the Radeon RX 6600 XT and we are still waiting for the RX 6600 model. From Igor’s Lab they have emulated the AMD Radeon RX 6600 from a Radeon PRO W6600 with the specifications that are known and expected for this model. In this way, performance results have been obtained in this model that are on a par with an NVIDIA RTX 3060 in 1080p resolutions.

For these tests Igor has used the Radeon PRO W6600 which he has modified to get as close as possible to the values ‚Äč‚Äčthat the RX 6600 will offer us. He has made modifications to the base clock frequency until reaching 2331 MHz with a boost frequency of approximately 2600 MHz. , for this he has had to add better cooling. It has also changed the memory speed to 16 Gbps from the 14 Gbps offered by the PRO W6600.

Other modified parameters is consumption, with 130 W of TGP compared to 100 for the W6600 or 170 W for the NVIDIA RTX 3060.

The results obtained by Igor are very similar to those offered by the NVIDIA RTX 3060, with 4% less performance at the lowest resolution of 1080p. If we use a higher resolution, we would get a more noticeable difference in favor of the RTX 3060.

But this card is designed to compete with the entry range that would be equivalent to a supposed NVIDIA RTX 3050 for desktops that we have not heard of lately, it seems that NVIDIA would not be interested, at the moment, in launching this model.

Even so, we will have to wait until next September to check the real performance data on the RX 6600, when it is expected that this model will be launched on the market at a price that will be between $ 300 and $ 330. Although we have been able to see a close-up of what awaits us for this AMD Radeon RX 6600.
