Rumor: Square Enix May Release Final Fantasy 7 Remake for Xbox Series X|S

We are approaching the fourth anniversary of the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and we are far enough from its launch that even its sequel, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, is just over a month away. Throughout all this time, however, the action RPG has not been released for Xbox, something that has become increasingly intriguing as time passes.

However, it seems that Square Enix may finally be in the process of bringing the game to the Xbox audience—or at least in the early stages. This is what journalist Jez Corden claims, who recently mentioned on the Xbox Two podcast that he has “preliminary evidence” suggesting that “there are discussions about Final Fantasy 7 Remake for Xbox.”

The timing may seem curious, given that the release of the mentioned Rebirth is imminent, but it would be surprising if the 2020 action RPG simply did not make its way to Xbox consoles. Last year, when Square Enix announced an Xbox Series X/S version of Final Fantasy 14 (scheduled for this spring), the company stated that, in the future, it would be “working closely” with Microsoft to bring more of its games to the Xbox audience.

Does this mean that a port of Final Fantasy 7 Remake for Xbox is finally in development? Could we perhaps expect Xbox ports for Final Fantasy 16 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in the future? This remains to be seen, but we will be attentive to any updates in this regard, so stay tuned.
