How to disable Windows Defender in Windows 11

Natively, in Windows 11 there is an antivirus called Windows Defender. This has different systems protections to be able to block the execution of different executables or it will prevent the download of dangerous files from the Internet. This can sometimes be a problem when trying to install a new program, but you should know that there is the possibility of temporarily deactivating all its functions. We’ll tell you how to disable Windows Defender in a simple way in this article.

In order to disable this functionality, you must have Windows administrator permissions.

Disable Windows 11 antivirus

Keep in mind that it is always recommended to have Windows Defender activated and fully updated. It acts as a barrier to prevent the entry of unwanted files, but sometimes this antivirus can block a file that you need to download and that you know is completely safe. It can also happen with incoming connections when you want to connect to a server or another computer in the house.

To be able to deactivate it, the process that follows is really simple. The steps to follow are those:

  • Open Settings.
  • Click on the Privacy and security section found in the sidebar.
  • Click on the Windows Security section.
  • Select the Open Windows Security button.
  • In the Windows Defender window click on Virus and Threat Protection.
  • The window will appear with all the analyzes that have been carried out.
  • Tap Manage settings.
  • This will be in the antivirus and threat protection settings section.
  • In the last step you must disable the Real-time protection option.

From here on, your computer will be completely vulnerable to attacks that come from the network itself or from the files that you download. That is why we recommend always having it activated, and doing this process only at specific times.
